Is it only Wallace wearing the wrong trousers?

It’s a fact. Men’s trousers are getting wider and the waist lines getting higher, so is it time to get rid of skinny jeans?  Well, I wouldn’t go that far but the trend for a wider legs is gaining ground and we have to say H&H are here for it.

Of course, trends come and go and this one won’t be for everyone and in this case it might only be the brave who will go for it at first rather than it filtering down in to the work place or a night out night straight away

Bear in mind that we aren’t talking flares here, although there will be some of that too. No, we are looking at a wide leg pants from the hips down, with a wide cuff, think something that goes past the end of the shoe or close to, depending on how bold you’re feeling.

A wider leg trousers can come in many styles and names, Palazzo pants, Oxford bags, even cargo pants, each with different features and cut, so have a look around and find what speaks to you.

Now this has been on the cards for a little while but other than one or two of our customers we haven’t really see it break through to the man on the street but it has in the magazines and on TV, Danny Jones from McFly on Sunday Brunch, we see you!

For some people this style never went away and quite right too, it can be very flattering and the comfort is next level, and even in a cloth with a little bit more weight they still remain relatively cool and easy to wear, just don’t go out riding your bike without your trouser clips.

And what about styling?  What else should you wear?

Well, that depends on what wide legs trouser you go for.  Palazzo pants look great with a fitted T- shirt and a shorter style jacket and they can take a smart trainer or shoe.  Oxford bags, go for a brogue shoe, shirt and a pullover for that classic look and the cargo pants go great with deck shoes, or converse and a linen shirt, maybe a loose lazy fit jacket too.

I hope though that it goes without saying that these types of styles and ‘rules’ are there to be played with and broken.  Find what’s right for you and what you’ve got in your wardrobe already that may work with the wider legs.  Why not treat yourself and spend a bit of time playing dress up for the afternoon to get it styled just right? I think it’s a trend that we will see more and more of over the coming months and through all of 2025.

So, if you are feeling like Wallace and you’re stuck in the wrong trousers, do give us a shout, and like Gromit will be there to save the day and we’ll even leave out the eye roll.
