About Us

In 2010, Hardman & Hemming – The Visiting Tailors, was formed by Stuart Hardman, providing a full tailoring service direct to people at home or work and making tailoring accessible to everyone.  This service is still on offer and we can visit you at your home, work place or other convenient location.

Prior to Hardman & Hemming, Stuart worked with tailors in Guildford, Brighton, Tunbridge Wells and also in London providing tailoring services in Flagship stores on Oxford Street.

From early 2015, Hardman & Hemming began offering our services alongside Colin De’Ath, Traditional Bespoke tailors, in the shop at 116 London Road, Southborough, a tailor’s shop for over 35 years and whose history can be traced right back to Savile row.

Being part of Southborough and continuing the tradition of a tailor being based at 116 London Road is very important to us, we still see customers who have been coming here since the early 80’s when Roy Farrington moved to the shop from his previous location on the High Street in Tunbridge Wells.

In 1990, Colin De’Ath, after his time with Huntsmans on Savile Row, took over the shop, where he continued to provide the same high level of quality service and expert tailoring you would expect from Savile Row trained tailors.

Fast forward to 2016, when Hardman & Hemming took over the business. Having been a tailor for the last 54 years Colin decided it would be a good time to take the plunge in to semi-retirement and now works part time in the shop.

It is important to us to that the traditions and skills of tailoring continue on, not just for another 35 years in Southborough but in the UK in general and we love doing our bit, putting our own spin and modern take on the bespoke world.
